Verifex Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 20, 2026 · Applies to the Verifex mobile app ("Verifex," "the app")

Verifex is built to verify professional and safety certifications on your device. Most of what the app does — reading a certificate, matching a name, checking a provider's records — happens locally and never leaves your phone. This page explains the things that do involve our servers: anonymized usage data we always collect, an optional "Report Issue" feature that sends real details only when you choose to, and an optional encrypted backup you can turn on.

The short version: we never see your certificates, your name, your date of birth, or your photos, unless you explicitly turn on Backup or tap Report Issue on a specific certification — and Backup is encrypted on your device before it's sent, so we can't read its contents either way.

1. Data we always collect: anonymized verification results

Every time Verifex checks a certificate, the app sends us a small, anonymized record of what happened — not what the certificate says. This is on by default for every user and cannot be turned off, because it's how we find and fix problems with verification across the many different certification providers Verifex supports. It is not linked to your name or any account.

We collectWe do not collect
  • A random installation ID (not your name, email, or device ID)
  • App version, platform, and OS version
  • Which certificate type and provider was being verified
  • Pass/fail status for each verification step, and how long it took
  • A general error category when a step fails (e.g. "provider unreachable"), never the raw error text
  • Whether a certificate number needed automatic correction (yes/no only)
  • The date, to the day — not the exact time
  • Your name
  • Your certificate or license numbers
  • Your date of birth
  • Any photo of a certificate or ID
  • Raw scanned/OCR text
  • Your location

This data is used only by us, to improve verification accuracy. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it to track you across other apps or websites.

2. Report Issue (optional, sends real details)

If a verification doesn't go as expected, you can tap Report Issue on that certification to help us fix it. This is different from the anonymous data in section 1 above: it includes real details, and it is only ever sent when you choose to send it.

3. Backup (optional)

Backup lets you restore your wallet if you get a new phone. It is off by default — you turn it on from Settings.

4. Deleting your data

The "Delete Account" button in Verifex wipes your wallet from your device. If you have Backup turned on, it also deletes your encrypted backup from our servers at the same time. This is immediate and cannot be undone.

Anonymized verification-result data (section 1) is not tied to your identity and is not deleted when you clear your account, since there is nothing in it that identifies you to delete.

5. Where your data is stored

Verifex's backend runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) at all times. Encrypted backups are stored using standard, industry-recognized encryption (AES-256-GCM, performed on your device).

6. Children's privacy

Verifex is intended for professional and workplace use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and note it in the app.
